Planting carried down the face of a Victoria Island tower.

Number 8 Idowu Martins is a residential tower at Victoria Island — a site as dense and paved-over as Lagos gets. The balconies step and cantilever against one another, carrying planting down the face of the building instead of just sitting under it. Structure and drainage were engineered from the start to carry the real load of wet, mature soil and rainfall, and the planting was specified for a climate that never really gets a season off. That’s what keeps the greenery on the building through the first rainy season, and every one after it.
